Clarity Restored: Grace Church Bethlehem’s AVL Transformation
At Grace Church Bethlehem, worship takes many forms, with both modern and classic services under one roof. That variety requires a system with flexibility and precision. Unfortunately, the church’s original AVL installation did not fully meet the needs of the space, and over time the challenges mounted. Audio clarity suffered, volunteers faced constant frustration, and leadership was left unsure of how best to move forward.
Fresh Tech was invited to step in, not just to replace equipment, but to restore confidence in the system.
From Frustration to a Fresh Start
The existing setup showed signs of poor design choices, limited flexibility, and technical flaws that distracted from worship. Audio was inconsistent and plagued with phase issues. The infrastructure was disorganized, making troubleshooting difficult and creating constant stress for the team. Even safety was a concern, with a large drop-down Da-Lite projector screen in need of proper rigging and re-securing. The entire system needed to be reinstalled, reconfigured, and stabilized.
Rebuilding with Trust
From Sunday afternoon through the following Saturday, the Fresh Tech team worked around the clock to deliver a complete overhaul. The audio system at Grace is a d&b Soundscape 360° immersive PA, but the front main hangs of d&b A-Series loudspeakers had been installed in a way that created coverage problems. Fresh Tech re-hung and optimized those A-Series arrays, resolving phase artifacts and restoring consistent sound throughout the room.
On the video side, Fresh Tech installed a Blackmagic 80x80 video router and a Blackmagic Constellation HD 4 M/E switcher, replacing gear that could not handle the I/O requirements of the facility. Together, these upgrades gave the church the ability to route and manage content reliably across the entire building, whether for IMAG, streaming, or overflow spaces.
Rigging improvements were also made throughout the auditorium, including re-securing the large center projector screen for stability and safety. Fresh Tech also provided clear documentation and labeling so volunteers could serve with confidence, and installed a dedicated production network for seamless device communication.
Through every step, our team worked closely with Grace Church’s leadership and staff production department. The goal was never just to deliver equipment, but to create a system they could trust.
A Transformed Experience
The difference was immediately noticeable. The lead pastor described a dramatic improvement in clarity, especially during the classic service where every word and note needed to be heard with precision. Modern services benefitted from consistent, immersive sound that carried energy without distraction. For the first time, the church was also able to take advantage of d&b En-Scene immersive reverb features for their choir, allowing voices to fill the space with depth and beauty.
What once felt unreliable and messy now looked and sounded excellent. Volunteers who had struggled with frustration found themselves supported by systems they could depend on. For staff, the transformation was about more than technology. It was about peace of mind.
More Than an Installation
At Fresh Tech, we believe technology should always serve the mission, never stand in its way. For Grace Church Bethlehem, this project was about restoring trust and giving their production team a system they could rely on with confidence. By re-hanging the A-Series mains, rebuilding infrastructure, and upgrading video systems, we created a foundation that is reliable, flexible, and capable of serving both modern and classic services with excellence.
