Stability Restored: Reach Church’s AVL Redeployment in Des Moines

Reach Church in Des Moines, Iowa had recently completed a massive facility renovation. The vision was clear. The investment was substantial. The expectation was excellence.

But once the doors opened, it became evident that the AVL system had not been installed or deployed properly. What should have been a powerful contemporary worship environment was instead marked by instability, audio dropouts, and network failures that disrupted services and created stress for their team.

Fresh Tech was invited in to redeploy the system. Our goal was to stabilize what was already there and restore it to the level it should have been from the beginning.

When Big Systems Fall Short

The challenge at Reach was not a lack of equipment. It was improper deployment.

The PA system had not been properly deployed within the room, resulting in inconsistent coverage and noticeable phasing issues. The network backbone was unstable, with Dante connection dropouts causing intermittent failures and loss of critical audio functionality. Systems that were meant to communicate seamlessly struggled to stay connected, leaving the team in a constant cycle of troubleshooting instead of focusing on ministry.

Redeploying with Precision

The existing d&b line array was carefully evaluated, measured, and properly redeployed to eliminate phasing issues and restore consistent, reliable coverage throughout the space. The system was optimized to perform the way it was originally intended.

On the network side, the AV infrastructure was rebuilt and stabilized. Netgear AV switching was reconfigured with proper segmentation, VLAN structure, and reliable multicast handling to ensure clean Dante communication across the system. Dropouts were eliminated at their source, restoring confidence in the backbone of the entire environment.

Throughout the process, labeling, documentation, and infrastructure cleanup were prioritized so troubleshooting would no longer feel like guesswork. Order replaced chaos. Stability replaced uncertainty.

The goal was simple. Make the system dependable again.

More Than a Fix

At Fresh Tech, we believe stewardship matters. Large investments deserve thoughtful execution. Technology should accelerate a church’s mission, not slow it down.

For Reach Church, this was not about adding more equipment or changing direction. It was about restoring integrity to what was already there. By redeploying the PA, stabilizing their network, and refining infrastructure throughout the building, we helped turn a frustrating situation into a reliable foundation for contemporary worship.

Now the system supports the mission instead of distracting from it.
