Fixing the Physics: Allison Park Church Embraces d&b Soundscape

When Allison Park Church set out to upgrade the audio system at their Hampton campus, the challenge was clear. The room is extremely wide, relatively shallow, and capped by a ceiling only about 25 feet high. Traditional PA designs struggled to provide even coverage. No matter how the system was modeled, the edges and back rows were left with a diminished experience.

That changed when Soundscape entered the conversation.

At Fresh Tech, we had experienced d&b Soundscape firsthand during a demo in Asheville, North Carolina. What started as an opportunity to rule it out quickly became a revelation. Soundscape was not just another option. It was the only solution that could deliver the consistency, definition, and clarity that Allison Park Church needed for their Hampton campus.

Why Soundscape Was the Answer

Soundscape redefines what is possible for church audio by using spatial processing to deliver immersive coverage across the entire room. At Hampton, that meant every seat could finally hear the same mix with the same detail and engagement.

The difference was immediate. Average sound pressure levels dropped by nearly 10 dB in the first week, yet the clarity and impact of the mix increased dramatically. Instead of fighting against the physics of the room, the system worked with it and allowed worship and teaching to be heard with excellence.

Designed with Intentionality

Working closely with Allison Park’s leadership, Fresh Tech designed a Soundscape system that matched their vision for an intimate worship space with big impact. The configuration included seven d&b 24S-D loudspeakers across the mains, supported by six 44S loudspeakers for flown front fills and four 10S-D loudspeakers to extend coverage. A sub array of five 21S subs provided low end reinforcement, while processing and power came from a network of 5D and 40D amplifiers, a DS10 network bridge, and the DS100 signal engine with En-Scene software that makes Soundscape possible.

One standout element of the design was the compact 44S loudspeaker, which delivered remarkable clarity and output as front fills. That performance made it possible to maintain a consistent experience for every seat in the house, even in such a challenging layout.

Results That Last

The Hampton campus seats 750 people and serves a congregation of more than 2,000. With Soundscape, every row from the front to the very back now experiences the same consistent coverage. There are no dead spots, no distracting phase issues, and no compromises. Many on the team said it felt as though Soundscape had fixed the physics of the room by doing what they had once thought was impossible.

Built for Ministry

For Allison Park Church, this was about far more than an audio upgrade. It was about creating an environment where worship and teaching could be experienced clearly and consistently by everyone in the room. By designing a system specifically for their space and goals, Fresh Tech delivered not just a sound system but a solution that elevates their mission.
