Champion Christian Center Chooses Sony FX6 for Broadcast
In 2021, during the height of COVID, Champion Christian Center partnered with Fresh Tech to upgrade their broadcast with a Sony FX6 cinema camera package. The goal was to deliver a cinematic look for livestreams while staying budget conscious.
A Cinematic Approach on a Careful Budget
The package included four Sony FX6 cameras, each assigned to a different role in the broadcast workflow. A follow shot at front of house used a Sony 70–200mm GM lens with a 1.4x teleconverter for tight, detailed coverage. Another FX6 was mounted on a Dana Dolly with a Sony 28–135mm f/4 servo lens, creating smooth motion that added depth and variety. A second 28–135mm lens was used on sticks for a wide, stable perspective, while a roaming FX6 equipped with a Sony 24–70mm GM captured the energy of worship up close.
Using the S-Cinetone color profile, the cameras delivered rich, filmic color right out of the box, making consistency simple for volunteer operators.
Why the FX6 Was the Right Fit
The FX6 brought the advantages of cinema-style imaging into a live environment. With reliable autofocus, high dynamic range, and full-frame sensors, it handled the demands of broadcast production while remaining accessible for volunteers. The system provided many of the benefits of larger FX9-based rigs at a fraction of the cost, striking the right balance between quality and stewardship.
Impact That Lasts
For Champion Christian Center, the FX6 package was more than just a technical upgrade. It allowed the church to deliver a cinematic, engaging broadcast during a critical season when online services mattered more than ever. The result was a system that elevated quality, empowered volunteers, and extended the church’s message with clarity and impact.
